carrying a concealed weapon

MARQUETTE, MI--   Two Marquette residents have been arrested by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team on drug and weapons charges.

Over the past several months UPSET has been investigating two large-scale meth dealers in the Marquette area. Detectives learned the suspects were traveling north from Lower Michigan and were believed to be headed to Marquette to sell drugs. The UPSET East team and Michigan State Police Hometown Security Team helped set up surveillance in the Eastern U.P. The suspect vehicle was stopped Monday on M-28 near Shingleton in Alger County.

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Mackinac County man has been arrested for hitting another man with a gun. 

Michigan State Police from the St. Ignace Post say the incident happened Tuesday in Marquette Township. Troopers say a 72-year-old resident had stopped to check on what he thought was a suspicious vehicle parked in the yard of an unoccupied residence. The car was actually owned by the 75-year-old property owner.

DELTA COUNTY, MI--   Two people were arrested after deputies served search warrants in Delta County Saturday. 

One was executed at a Wells Township residence, the other in the City of Escanaba.

A 52-year-old Escanaba man was arrested for possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of ecstasy. A vehicle and money were seized during the search.

An 18-year-old Delta County resident was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.

DELTA COUNTY, MI--   Three Wisconsin residents have been arrested on drug and weapons charges in Delta County.

Monday around 3:35 a.m. a sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle in the Bayview area for a traffic infraction. K-9 Jet was requested at the scene to conduct an exterior sniff of the vehicle.

Deputies located meth and a loaded handgun next to the driver. The Green Bay man was arrested for possession with intent to deliver meth and carrying a concealed weapon.

ESCANABA, MI--   The case of a Bark River man who tried to get into an Escanaba house while armed with a pistol has been bound over to circuit court. 

Joshua Tryan, 30, is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and fleeing and eluding police—both felonies—and the misdemeanors operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, domestic violence, and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

ESCANABA, MI--   A 30-year-old man is lodged in the Delta County Jail after a woman claimed he had a gun and tried to get into her house.

Sunday around 1:05 a.m. officers from the Escanaba Department of Public Safety were dispatched to a home on the 1400 block of 5th Avenue South. As they approached the suspect he fled on an ATV without headlights down 14th Street. A short chase ensued, but the suspect was eventually stopped on the 1300 block of 18th Avenue South.

Police say a loaded handgun was found on the man.

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   An Iron River man accused of waving a handgun at someone in the parking lot of the CoVantage Credit Union parking lot Friday has been arraigned on several charges. 

IRON RIVER, MI--   The arrest of an Iron River man on drug and assault charges led to a search warrant being executed at a house in the city.  

WLUC-TV reports a 38-year-old man pulled a handgun on someone Friday afternoon in the parking lot of the CoVantage Credit Union.  He was arrested for felonious assault, possession of marijuana, and carrying a concealed weapon.

The Iron River Police Department later executed a search warrant at a residence and found marijuana, hallucinogens, cocaine, suboxone, suspected meth, and firearms. 

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A 17-year-old male suspect is jailed, following a shooting in Manistique.  

Friday afternoon Manistique Public Safety responded to a report that three men had been shot at by the suspect in Central Park near the ball field.  The victims were taken to the Public Safety Department for protection while officers looked for the shooter. 

ESCANABA, MI--   Two individuals were taken into custody this week before they could commit a crime during Escanaba’s power outage.  

Public Safety Captain Jamie Segorski says during increased patrols Tuesday night officers apprehended 19-year-old Colton Marchbanks and a male minor.  Segorski says both had crowbars up their sleeves and masks in a bag. 

Marchbanks is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of burglary tools. 

The minor’s name will not be released.
