ATHELSTANE, WI--   The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says a seventh person has died in a traffic accident in the county this year.

Sunday evening George Aerts, 56, of Amberg, Wisconsin was riding a motorcycle on County Highway C in the town of Athelstane when he collided with a deer.

Aerts died of injuries sustained in the crash Monday afternoon at a Green Bay hospital.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner.

COLEMAN, WI--   The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect in the armed robbery of a Coleman, Wisconsin grocery store.

Deputies were dispatched Saturday around 6:15 p.m. to the Piggly Wiggly. Witnesses say a white man wearing a long sleeve shirt, dark pants, grey shoes and a Milwaukee Brewers hat threatened a clerk with a gun and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to call the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office at 715-732-7627.

STEPHENSON, WI--   The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says a Wisconsin woman has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident last month.  

On May 29 around 5:50 p.m. a vehicle was northbound on CTH-A near Jazwinski Road in the town of Stephenson. It entered the shoulder, lost control, crossed the centerline, and hit a southbound vehicle.

PEMBINE, WI--   The names of the victim and suspect in a Pembine, Wisconsin murder case have been released.

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says Gary Rogge, 55, called Central Dispatch Sunday night. He said he’d shot his wife earlier and she was deceased. 

Police found Shelley Erickson-Rogge, 63, dead of a gunshot wound at a home on Petite Lane.

Gary Rogge remains lodged in the Marinette County jail, awaiting formal charges.

MARINETTE, WI (AP)--   Authorities say a 79-year-old Green Bay man is dead after the truck he was driving fell through the ice on Lake Noquebay. 

The Marinette County Sheriff's Office says its dive team found the man inside the truck Saturday morning at the bottom of the lake. WBAY-TV reports the man was identified as Herbert C. Lax Jr.

Authorities say they began searching for Lax Friday night after a fisherman called to report a patch of open water on the lake and a floating cooler. Search crews found Lax with the help of an underwater camera from an air boat.

NIAGARA, WI--   An 8-year-old girl has died in an ATV accident in Niagara, Wisconsin. 

The Eagle Herald says it happened Sunday around 6:20 p.m. on private property off Paris Road. Investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office indicates a 7-year-old girl was driving the ATV when it hit a tree. Her passenger, 8-year-old Rebekah Chapman of Niagara, was thrown from the 4-wheeler. She was taken to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, where she later died of her injuries.

The driver of the ATV wasn’t injured.

MIDDLE INLET, WI--   A Kingsford man has been arrested in Wisconsin on drug charges.  

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office stopped the 44-year-old for speeding Tuesday in the town of Middle Inlet. 

BEECHER, WI (AP)--   Sheriff's officials say a woman was struck and killed on a Marinette County highway. 

The driver of a pickup truck told deputies he swerved to avoid a dark object on Highway 141 about 4 a.m. Saturday, but the snowmobile trailer he was pulling may have struck it. When he turned around and went back he found an unresponsive woman in the middle of the snow-covered highway.

MARINETTE COUNTY, WI--   Authorities have released the name of a Wisconsin man who took his own life after he shot at police while being chased last week. 

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Department says the suspect is identified as Robb DeGroot, 43, of Green Bay.

MARINETTE COUNTY, WI--   A man who led Wisconsin police on a high-speed chase in Marinette County and shot at vehicles is dead.  

Sheriff’s deputies say the suspect—believed to be a 35-year-old Green Bay man—reportedly shot at and hit a vehicle on US-141 just south of Wausaukee Thursday around 3 p.m.  Deputies spotted the suspect and pursued the black Chevy Tahoe, which fled the scene at a high rate of speed. 

The suspect turned onto US-8, then fired a handgun out the window at deputies.  His vehicle disappeared on a two-rut road near the town of Goodman.
