MARQUETTE, MI--   The Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association wants to build a vertical launch site for rockets carrying commercial satellites in Marquette County, but a local group is saying “Not so fast.”

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   The Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association has selected the Chippewa County Airport as the site for a new spaceport command and control center.

MARQUETTE, MI--   Not everyone is happy Marquette County was chosen as a vertical launch site by the Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association. 

State Representative Sara Cambensy says MAMA’s announcement was a surprise, especially when she learned the site wouldn’t be at the former KI Sawyer Air Force base. The selected location is in a pristine wooded area about 15 miles north of Marquette.

MARQUETTE, MI--   Last week, the Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association (MAMA) announced that Marquette, MI had been selected as a new vertical space launch site, kickstarting the nation’s next chapter in commercial, government and defense aerospace operations. 

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Michigan Launch Initiative, an effort led by the Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association (MAMA), is moving forward with a vertical launch site and autonomous vehicle proving grounds to be located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
