CALUMET, MI--   An armed woman who was shot by Michigan State Police at a Hubbell residence Monday night is in critical condition.

Troopers from the Calumet Post responded to a report of shots fired at the house and encountered the 28-year-old woman outside with a gun. She refused to drop the firearm. Officers say they feared for the safety of an elderly person inside the house, and when the woman tried to go back inside they fired their weapons.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital then transferred to a Green Bay facility, where she remains in critical condition.

MARINETTE, WI--   The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Marinette County.

The Division of Criminal Investigation says the incident happened Friday around 11 a.m. in Amberg. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence report and tried to make contact with the suspect, who was sitting in a vehicle. The man drove away from the scene, followed by the deputies. After a short distance the suspect got out of his vehicle and brandished a firearm. He was shot by a deputy.

KENOSHA, WI (AP)--   Some residents in Kenosha fear a planned visit by President Donald Trump days after unrest over a police shooting may stir more emotions. 

Trump is scheduled to visit Tuesday, a week after authorities say a 17-year-old from northern Illinois shot and killed two protesters.

Demonstrators are calling for an officer to face attempted murder charges in the shooting of Jacob Blake. The tension began Aug. 23 after a video showed a Kenosha police officer shooting Blake in the back. Blake is a 29-year-old Black man.

UPDATE - MARINETTE, Wis. (AP) — Officials in northeastern Wisconsin have identified the man fatally shot by officers as a convicted felon from Virginia.

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   The suspect in a Sault Ste. Marie hostage situation shot by city police remains in the hospital.  

On December 3 officers were called to a house on Minneapolis Street and found the man on the porch, holding a knife to a woman’s throat.  Police shot the man when he refused to release her.

The victim and suspect were taken to War Memorial Hospital.  The woman was treated and released, while the man continues to recover. 

He is expected to be charged once he’s released. 

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Sault Ste. Marie.

Michigan State Police say city officers were called Wednesday around 4:20 p.m. to a residence on 

Minneapolis Street.  They encountered a man on the porch holding a knife to a woman’s throat.  When the subject repeatedly ignored the officers’ command to let the woman go, police shot him.  As the man fell he released the victim. 

Both were taken to War Memorial Hospital, where they remain. 

NEGAUNEE, MI--   State Police want to hear from people who may have had contact with a man who was killed in a police shootout in Alger County earlier this month.  

Troopers from the Negaunee Post are working on a timeline of events surrounding the July 14 incident, which led Munising Police on a chase from Christmas down Forest Highway 13.  Timothy Mitchell, 47, crashed his car, then suffered fatal injuries when police shot him. 

MUNISING, MI--   An Alger County man involved in a shooting after he led Munising Police on a high-speed chase and crashed his car Monday afternoon is dead. 

That’s according to Michigan State Police troopers, who held a press conference on the matter Tuesday afternoon at the Munising Police Department.
