Public Spaces Community Places

ISHPEMING, MI--   A crowdfunding campaign for an art park in Ishpeming has been launched.

If the Patronicity campaign reaches its $6,000 goal by December 15 the project will win a matching grant through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Public Spaces Community Places program.

The Marquette County Land Bank is assisting in the effort, which would place student artwork and a greenspace in vacant lots near Ishpeming High School.

LANSING, MI--   A crowdfunding campaign has been established to restore the historical Carp River beehive kiln and place it on the Iron Ore Heritage Trail.

The goal of the campaign is to construct a new gateway park along the Trail. The featured rebuilt kiln will be surrounded with art, landscaping, walkways, lighting, benches and interpretive signs. The Carp River Kiln Gateway Plaza will become a new community space paying tribute to Marquette’s iron mining story and welcoming visitors to the area.

NEGAUNEE, MI--   The City of Negaunee is trying to restore its VFW monument and create a Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Park through a crowdfunding effort.

A campaign has been established on Patronicity. If the crowdfunding goal of $12,000 is reached by June 2 the project will win a matching grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Public Spaces Community Places program.
