two-vehicle accident

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person is injured, following a two-vehicle accident in Negaunee Township. 

State Police say the crash happened Tuesday around 7 p.m. at the intersection of US-41 and Midway Drive.  Billie Heggaton, 42, of Negaunee was westbound on 41 in a Chevy Impala and had started to turn onto Midway Drive.  Joshua Gravelyn, 30, of Negaunee was driving southeast in a Chevy Silverado when he crossed the centerline and crashed into Heggaton’s vehicle.

Heggaton was taken to UPHS Marquette.  Her two juvenile passengers weren’t injured. 

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette Police are seeking information who may have seen an accident in the city. 

Officers say the two-vehicle accident happened Tuesday around 12:25 p.m. at the intersection of North Seventh Street and West College Avenue.  The vehicles involved were a dark-colored Chevy Astro van and a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call the Marquette Police Department at 228-0400.  

ELY TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident on County Road CD in Ely Township Monday. 

NEGAUNEE, MI--   A Negaunee woman had to be cut out of her vehicle following a crash in the city on Saturday night.  

Officials say a pickup driven by an Ishpeming man was eastbound on US-41 and approaching the intersection with Teal Lake Avenue when he hit a car driven by the woman.  Emergency personnel had to use the Jaws of Life to get her out. 

The victim was taken to the hospital, but her condition is unknown at this time. 

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two people were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Chocolay Township.  

Police say the accident happened Wednesday at 12:12 p.m. at the corner of US-41 and M-28.  Tyler Juntunen, 20, of Lake Linden was southbound on 41 when he turned east and into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by Terry Debruyn, 64, of Skandia.  The vehicles crashed head-on. 

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash on US-41 in front of the Ojibwa Express Gas Station in Marquette Township. 

Wednesday around 11:40 a.m. a Dodge pickup driven by Michael Vilona, 78, of East Troy, Wisconsin was in the center turn lane when he tried to merge into eastbound traffic.  He pulled into the path of a Chevy Tahoe driven by Jamie Tasson, 37, of Ishpeming.  Both vehicles drove off the right side of the roadway and went into the ditch. 

Neither driver wanted medical treatment. 

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Bark River man has been cited in an accident involving two semis in Negaunee Township.

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   State Police are reporting a two-vehicle crash in Negaunee Township. 

Troopers say the accident on US-41 near Pond Road happened Tuesday around 8:50 a.m.  Peter Comment, 38, of Marquette was westbound on US-41 when his vehicle traveled through the median and into the eastbound lanes.  He hit another vehicle driven by Paul Wolfson, 67, of Ishpeming.

Wolfson sought his own treatment.  Comment was taken to UP Health System Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

The crash remains under investigation.  

TILDEN TOWNSHIP, MI--   An Ishpeming woman suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Marquette County’s Tilden Township.   

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A Manistique woman charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing serious injury has pleaded guilty to the charge.   

Theresa Gorney, 32, was arrested June 15 after she crossed the centerline of M-94 at the Siphon Bridge and hit an SUV containing an Illinois couple head-on.  The couple was taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. 

At her preliminary hearing Thursday Gorney said she tried to kill herself the day before the accident by taking a bottle of Xanax and a bottle of Ambien.  She said she woke up in jail two days later.
