Upper Peninsula tour

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   Governor Gretchen Whitmer began a three-day tour of the Upper Peninsula Tuesday with a stop in Sault Ste. Marie.

Whitmer has been looking at infrastructure around the state, highlighting the need for funding to fix crumbling roads and bridges.

MARQUETTE, MI--   Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette is visiting the Marquette area Monday.

The Republican recently announced his candidacy for governor. He spent the weekend on Mackinac Island at the GOP’s biennial leadership conference and stopped in Sault Ste. Marie Sunday.

Governor Rick Snyder is in the Upper Peninsula this week, talking to people about its economy and beauty. 

He stopped at Northern Michigan University to talk to Public Radio 90 News Director Nicole Walton about his travels.

MARQUETTE, MI--   Democratic candidate Gary Peters is swinging through the Upper Peninsula in his campaign for the U.S. Senate.  

Peters stopped at the Super 8 motel in Houghton Saturday for a meet-and-greet with residents. 

He continues his tour Monday morning in Marquette, where he’ll hold a small business owners and entrepreneurs roundtable at Donckers beginning at 9:30 a.m. 

Then it’s off to Escanaba and Bay de Noc Community College.  Peters is participating in another meet-and-greet at 12:30 p.m. at the Heirman University Center.

Calley in the U.P.

MARQUETTE, MI--   Michigan’s Lieutenant Governor is visiting parts of the Upper Peninsula this week.

The tour is part of the Pure Michigan campaign.  Calley will highlight the area’s recreational opportunities and hold meetings with local officials and the public.  

Calley’s schedule is as follows:
