DEARBORN, MI— Around 3.6 million Michigan residents are expected to travel 50 miles or more during the year-end holiday travel period.

AAA projects nearly 101,743—or 2.4 percent—more Michigan travelers than last year. It’s the second-highest year-end travel forecast since 2000, when AAA began tracking holiday travel.

About 3.3 million residents are forecast to travel by car, 207,523 by air, and 129,516 by other means.

2019 remains the busiest Christmas and New Year’s travel period on record, with 3.7 million Michigan travelers.

The travel period spans December 23rd to January 1st.
