LANSING, MI— Seasonally unadjusted jobless rates rose in all 17 Michigan labor market areas in January.
That’s according to data released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget.
Michigan regional unemployment rates ranged from 3.5 to 9.5 percent during January. Jobless rate increases ranged from 0.5 to 2.0 percentage points, with a median increase of 1.0 percentage point.
The Upper Peninsula unemployment rate was 7.2 percent, up 1.4 percentage points over December 2022. Dickinson County had the lowest jobless rate in the U.P., at 4.7 percent. Mackinac County had the highest in the state, at 21.2 percent.
