Iron Mountain residents could raise city council's pay

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI (AP)--   How much is your city council worth?

In Iron Mountain, voters could get a chance this fall to raise the pay to $40 a meeting from $10. The pay hasn't changed for nearly 30 years.

City Manager Jordan Stanchina says the current rate is one of the lowest in Michigan.

The Daily News says the $10 pay is part of the Iron Mountain City Charter so any change needs approval from voters. There would be a cap of $2,000 a year per council member, with an additional $125 a year for the mayor.
