LANSING, MI-- The Michigan Public Service Commission has canceled a hearing on an order directing WE Energies to show cause why it shouldn’t be prohibited from shutting down the Presque Isle Power Plant.
The MPSC says the fact that the Empire and Tilden mines have signed an agreement to remain customers of the plant until it’s sold to UPPCO means there’s no need for further court proceedings.
In return for the agreement WE Energies say it will not retire the plant and will forego collecting System Support Resource payments from U.P. utilities, retroactive to February 1.
The hearing was set for Wednesday.
