MARQUETTE, MI-- Upper Peninsula roadside parks are scheduled to reopen May 7.
The Michigan Department of Transportation maintains 32 roadside parks in the U.P. They usually close in late October and reopen in mid- to late April. Due to the late spring and colder temperatures they are opening later this year.
Officials say while the parks will be open, drivers should not expect drinking water to be turned on until later this month. Annual testing and treatment of park water will need to be done before it will be made available to the public.
