HOUGHTON COUNTY, MI - A preliminary damage estimate from flooding in Houghton County has been submitted to the state.
According to WLUC-TV, the estimate of about $50 million covers damage to county infrastructure including roads, municipal water, and sewage-and-drain systems. The estimate does not cover damage to private homes and businesses, M-DOT roads, and DNR trails.
As cleanup continues, the Portage Health Foundation - at (906) 523-5920 - and the Keweenaw Community Foundation – at (906) 482-9673 - continue to accept cash donations to help with flood relief.
