Marquette man critically injured in motorcycle crash

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Officials are investigating a Marquette Township car-motorcycle accident that injured one person.

Sheriff’s deputies say the crash happened Friday around 5:05 p.m. on County Road 550 and Wetmore Landing.  They say a Suzuki motorcycle driven by a 30-year-old Marquette man was northbound when it entered the southbound lane to pass two northbound vehicles.  The bike hit a Ford Escape that was turning left and crossing the southbound lane.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to Marquette General Hospital with critical injuries.  The driver of the escape, a 55-year-old woman from Free Soil, Michigan, was not injured.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
