Woman cited in Marquette Township accident

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Skandia woman was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Marquette Township Wednesday.

State Police from the Negaunee Post say it happened around 4:25 p.m. on US-41 in front of GFS Foods.

Troopers say Alexis Pomplun, 22, of Berlin, Wisconsin was westbound in the inside lane when a vehicle driven by Anita Vartti, 79, of Skandia started into the westbound lanes from the service road and hit Pomplun’s vehicle.

Pomplun was treated at the scene.  Vartti was taken to UP Health System Marquette, and is expected to recover.

Vartti was cited for failing to yield.
