Pickup driver fails to stop at tracks, is struck by train in Iron Mountain

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— No injuries were reported when a train hit a pickup truck in Iron Mountain Thursday.

It happened around 11:40 a.m. on D Street.

A westbound pickup driven by a 55-year-old man failed to stop for the activated railroad crossing signals. A train hit the truck broadside just behind the driver’s-side door, spinning it off the tracks and up onto a snowbank.

The driver of the pickup was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
