CALUMET TOWNSHIP, MI— Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post are investigating a fatal crash in Calumet Township Wednesday.
Troopers were dispatched around 5:50 p.m. to M-26 near Henwood Road. They say a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old Calumet man was southbound when it crossed the centerline on a curve. The vehicle entered the northbound lane and struck a vehicle head-on.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The 79-year-old female driver of the second vehicle had to be extricated by the Calumet Township Fire Department. She was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital, then transferred to UPHS-Marquette. Her 72-year-old female passenger was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw for treatment.
A Michigan State Police Advanced Accident Investigator is assisting with the investigation into the crash.
