Michigan gas prices fall 9 cents to $2.72 per gallon

DEARBORN, MI (AP)--   AAA Michigan says average gas prices statewide are down 9 cents in the past week to about $2.72 per gallon.

The Dearborn-based auto club says early Monday the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline is about equal to the same point last year. AAA says Michigan gas prices are at the lowest level since April.

The state's highest average was $2.89 per gallon in the Marquette area. The lowest was in the Grand Rapids and Holland areas at $2.65 a gallon.

The Detroit-area's average was about $2.76, down about 5 cents from a week ago.

AAA Michigan surveys daily fuel prices at 2,800 gas stations across the state.
