Carpenter trial enters third day

MARQUETTE, MI--   Trial continues in Marquette County Circuit Court Friday for an Ishpeming man charged with open murder and felony firearms.

Jack Carpenter, 53, is accused of shooting housemate David Meyer, 29, in a North Second Street residence in June of last year.

The prosecution claims Carpenter had been drinking at the time of the shooting.  The defense says Meyer was under the influence of drugs and Carpenter was acting in self-defense.

Carpenter faces up to life in prison if convicted of murder.
