End of the sentencing line for Thomas Murdock

MUNISING, MI--   A Delta County judge has handed down a final sentence for an Alger County man who ran over and killed his girlfriend.

Thomas Murdock, 50, was originally sentenced by Judge William Carmody to a minimum of two years in prison after Murdock was found guilty of operating while intoxicated, causing death.  His girlfriend, Lisa Hardwick, 44, was killed when he accidentally ran her over with his truck.

The Michigan Appeals Court said the sentence was too lenient and ordered resentencing, but Carmody upheld his original sentence.  Prosecution then asked that another judge be assigned to sentence Murdock.  On Thursday Judge Stephen Davis of Delta County ordered Murdock to serve a minimum of four-and-a-half years in jail.  He has credit for 695 days already served.
