Michael Nelson sentenced in vehicular death

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Big Bay man convicted in the hit-and-run death of resident Robin Rahoi has been sentenced.

On Monday Michael Nelson, 46, was given nine months in jail, to be served immediately, followed by two years’ probation.

A jury in October found Nelson guilty of failure to stop at the scene of an accident when at fault, resulting in death.  His vehicle struck the 54-year-old Rahoi on Lighthouse Road last December 17, then left the scene.

Nelson was immediately taken into custody after he was sentenced.
