Gwinn man sentenced for drunken driving, domestic violence

MARQUETTE, MI--    A Forsyth Township man has been sentenced for domestic violence and hitting a power pole at Sawyer.

Christian Champion, 21, was arrested last October after he allegedly drove while drunk and struck the pole, triggering an area-wide power outage.

Champion was charged with operating with a high blood-alcohol content and domestic violence. He was sentenced Thursday to one year of probation and 12 hours of community service.  He received a delay of sentence of 180 days in jail on the drunk driving charge and another delay of sentence for the domestic violence charge.

Champion won’t have to serve time if he successfully completes the terms of his probation.
