Federal trial date set for Hancock synagogue vandal

MARQUETTE, MI— A trial date is set in federal court for a Houghton man accused of defacing a Hancock synagogue in 2019.

Nathan Weeden, 23, is charged with conspiracy against rights and damaging religious property. He allegedly sprayed a swastika and other neo-Nazi symbols on the walls of Temple Jacob.

Weeden and two co-conspirators were members of The Base, a multi-state, white supremacist organization.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for September 25th and trial is set for October 2nd in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan.
