Indiana resident captured after chase in stolen vehicle

MASTODON TOWNSHIP, MI--   An Indiana man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a vehicle in Iron County.

Sheriff’s deputies responded Wednesday to a report that a vehicle had been taken from a residence on Camp 5 Road in Mastodon Township.  They say while en route they came across Howard Adkins, 43, of Cedar Lake, Indiana.  A short chase ensued, and after a standoff with police Adkins was taken into custody.

Deputies say a Jeep registered to Adkins was later found stuck on a snowmobile trail near Johanson Road in Crystal Falls Township.

Adkins faces a charge of unlawful driving away of an automobile.  He remains lodged in the Iron County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
