Man arrested for passing fake bill in Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI--   A preliminary hearing is scheduled for a Marquette man charged with uttering and publishing.  

Police allege on January 12 of this year Willie Sims, 21, passed a counterfeit $20 bill as he paid for food at a local restaurant. 

Uttering and publishing counterfeit bills or notes is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $2,500 fine. 

Sims’ preliminary exam is set for July 7 in Marquette County District Court.
