Woman severely injured in Iron Mountain; man arrested

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   An Iron Mountain man is in custody for seriously injuring a woman. 

Tuesday at 7:20 p.m. the Iron Mountain Police Department was dispatched to the Dickinson County Hospital Emergency Department. Officers say a 27-year-old woman had suffered significant injuries and needed emergency surgery.

A search warrant was issued for a residence in north Iron Mountain. Police say they found evidence related to the assault as well as a suspect, identified as Bobby Lee Winebarger, Jr., 35.

Winebarger is lodged in the Dickinson County Jail for assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the incident.
