Film revealing dangers of kids and online sextortion to be shown in Marquette

Public Radio 90 News Director Nicole Walton spoke with Maria Peek, producer and director of the film Sextortion: The Hidden Pandemic. She said one in seven children who are online is affected by the predatory practice, and parents and kids need to be educated on how to combat it.

The film is being shown Sunday, September 11th at 6 p.m. at Kaufman Auditorium in Marquette, followed by a Q&A session with co-producer and director Stephen Peek and law enforcement officials.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
