Man shoots at, sets fire to, Soo MSP patrol cars

Michigan State Police Sault Ste. Marie Post

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— Police in Chippewa County have issued a “be on the lookout” for a man who shot at Michigan State Police vehicles and set them on fire.

Around 3:30 Wednesday morning, a white male wearing camouflage and driving a silver Honda CRV shot at several MSP patrol vehicles at the Sault Ste. Marie Post with a rifle and set them aflame. No troopers were injured.

The Soo Post will remain closed on Wednesday.

Sault schools are holding classes but buildings will be locked from the outside. Parents will be notified with the additional security is removed.

The suspect is at large considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Post at 906-632-2217 or call 911.
