SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— Two Saginaw residents have been arrested in Chippewa County for bringing drugs to the U.P.
Detectives from TRIDENT were investigating a woman who was allegedly delivering cocaine in the area. They set up a purchase of more than 50 grams of cocaine on Sunday. Shortly afterward, police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and discovered additional evidence. They also found the suspect, Linda Baker, 27, had brought her toddler with her during the transaction.
Baker was arrested and charged with delivery of cocaine over 50 grams, conspiracy to deliver cocaine over 50 grams, child endangerment, and destruction of evidence.
A man who was also present during the buy, Gene Canales, 41, was charged with delivery of cocaine over 50 grams, and conspiracy to deliver cocaine over 50 grams.
Both remain lodged in the Chippewa County Correctional Facility.
