Ralph Post Office to close

RALPH, MI--   A small post office that opened more than a century ago in Dickinson County is closing.

November 30th is the last day of operations for the Ralph Post Office.

About 35 miles southwest of Marquette, the post office opened there in 1904.  It's open only two and a half hours daily during the week and 90 minutes on Saturday.

For the past quarter-century, the Cootware family has run it.  The family says the financial compensation is not enough to justify keeping the post office up and running.

A cluster box outside the town hall for incoming and outgoing mail will replace it. Packages will have to be sent through the Felch Post Office eight miles away.
