MAPS designates new last day

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette Area Public Schools district is changing the last day of the school year.

Monday’s closure because of a winter storm moved the last day to June 13.

District officials say MAPS will file a waiver for the inclement weather day.  They say typically the response time to hear whether or not it’s granted is several weeks.

There’s no guarantee the state will forgive those hours, so officials are planning for the worst-case scenario.
