U.P. online teacher honored

NEGAUNEE, MI--   A Negaunee teacher has been named Michigan Virtual University’s Online Teacher of the Year.  

Annette Gleason has been teaching online for five years, after four years teaching math at Gwinn High School.  She is now the lead math instructor at Michigan Virtual School and is honored for her “unparalleled commitment to her students.” Gleason received the award last week at MVU’s annual professional inservice conference.

Michigan Virtual University allows students to follow lessons, complete assignments, and interact with instructors through email and discussion rooms.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
