IRON MOUNTAIN, MI-- Students from Norway-Vulcan Area Schools are giving back to their community.
As part of a school outreach program called “20 TIME,” the students donated stuffed animals to the Dickinson County Healthcare Emergency Department. They’ll be given to comfort pediatric patients who show up at the ED in need of emergency care.
20 TIME is part of a technology class that asks students to take 20 percent of their class time to plan a business venture that has a pay-it-forward end result. Students Anna Falk and Mary Cavagnetto raised money by selling lemonade and cookies and asking for donations. They were able to buy twice as many stuffed animals than originally planned by going to Shopko’s going out of business sale.
Anna said, “Our goal was to help those who are less fortunate and the pediatric patients who were either sick or injured sounded like the perfect plan.”
