Walker to Obama administration: Please don't send Syrians

MADISON, WI (AP)--   Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is asking President Barack Obama's administration to "please respect our desire" not to relocate Syrian refugees in the state.

Walker sent the letter Tuesday, the day after he said Wisconsin would not accept any Syrians in the aftermath of the Paris terrorist attacks, even though it's unclear whether he has the legal authority to do that.

In Tuesday's letter, Walker says he "will make all efforts to ensure that Syrian refugees are not resettled within the boundaries of our state."

Walker says he directed the secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families not to participate in resettling Syrian refugees. He says Wisconsin will not facilitate the coordination or provision of benefits or services for people who could pose a threat to the state.
