LANSING, MI (AP)-- The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has awarded Michigan nearly $3.4 million in grants to help curb rate increases for health care and to enhance health care pricing transparency.
The grants created by the Affordable Care Act support efforts by states to review health insurance rate increases and educate consumers.
The grants also aim to help collect information about prices charged by health care providers in a given area or for a specific health insurer or service.
Michigan already has done work to review rates. The funding announced Monday is part of $67.6 million going to nearly two dozen states.
