U.P. hospitals, schools deal with illness

MARQUETTE, MI--   Visitor restrictions at UP Health System Marquette have been extended to UPHS Bell and Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital.

A high incidence of flu and other respiratory illnesses prompted the move.  At Bell and Marquette children under 14 aren’t allowed to visit other patients; people who are ill are asked to stay away from the hospitals; and other restrictions are in effect at the Family Birthing Center and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Only adults and immediate family are permitted to visit patients at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital.

On a related note, classes at L’Anse Area Schools and Sacred Heart were canceled Tuesday and Wednesday because of illness.  The schools are expected to reopen Thursday.
