MARQUETTE, MI-- Nurses at UPHS Marquette say current staffing levels at the hospital are dangerous and pose a threat to safe patient care.
The nurses are members of the UPHS Marquette RN Staff Council and the Michigan Nurses Association. They have been gathering signatures on petitions that read, “I am signing this petition to urge Duke LifePoint/UPHS-Marquette to bargain with nurses for an agreement that ensures guaranteed minimum RN staffing levels that are safe for patients, in every department and on every shift.”
The nurses will hold a press conference Tuesday at 4 p.m. to talk about conditions at the hospital, share petition results, and deliver the petitions to hospital management.
It takes place at the RN Staff Council office at 260 West Magnetic Street in Marquette.
