MANISTIQUE, MI— Schoolcraft County officials are expanding COVID testing availability in the area.
The LMAS District Health Department says from March of last year to August of this year the county had 460 cases of COVID and five deaths. In the last four months alone it has added 590 COVID cases and two deaths. The Schoolcraft County Board of Commissioners says residents need to help keep each other healthy by getting vaccinated or a booster shot, wear a mask in indoor public spaces, stay home if they’re sick, and get tested if they have been exposed to COVID or have symptoms.
Board Chair Paul Walker says the county continues to be in a state of emergency and there’s too much pressure on local healthcare systems.
Testing conducted by the Michigan National Guard will be held Monday, December 6, December 13 and December 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Schoolcraft County Building—DHS entrance. An additional testing day is scheduled for Wednesday, December 15 from noon to 4 p.m.
