HANCOCK, MI— The Michigan Department of Transportation will continue work requiring lane closures and full traffic closures of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge between Houghton and Hancock this week.
Motorists should expect closures of the outside northbound and southbound lanes on the bridge through Friday. Some full traffic closures of up to 10 minutes may be required for bridge moves at non-peak traffic times during the day. Some full traffic closures of up to 15 minutes may be done at night for bridge moves between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The lane and traffic closures will allow for curb work on the lower bridge deck and testing of the electrical systems.
Repair work is expected to be completed in early June.
