Harley Durocher sentenced for role in fatal trucking accident

ESCANABA, MI--   A Gwinn man who was convicted in a double-fatal accident last march in Gladstone has been sentenced.  

Harley Durocher, 25, was driving a logging truck that ran a red light at US-2/41 and South Hill Road, killing Thomas and Barbra Swift of Escanaba.

On Monday Judge Stephen Davis gave Durocher 5 to 15 years for each of two counts of operating on a suspended license, causing death; 5.5 to 15 years for each of two counts of reckless driving, causing death; and 3 to 15 years for each of two counts of operating with a controlled substance, causing death.  The sentences will run concurrently. 

Judge Davis denied the defense’s motion for a retrial.
