Man charged in Marquette County fleeing case

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Richmond Township man has been charged for leading police on a high-speed chase in Marquette County.

On May 3 Forsyth Township Police, a state trooper, and a Sheriff’s deputy followed a vehicle that sped down M-553, County Road 480, and M-35. The driver stopped in his Palmer driveway, then punched a deputy who tried to take him into custody.

Justin Kangas, 25, is charged with third-degree fleeing a police officer and resisting/obstructing an officer, causing injury. He’s also charged with a misdemeanor count of reckless driving.

Kangas remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
