DCHS moving toward reorganization

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   The Dickinson County Healthcare System Board has approved a recommendation to explore Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

At a board of trustees meeting Tuesday, officials authorized hospital legal counsel Michael Celello to seek candidates for Reorganization Counsel. He’ll make a recommendation to the board as early as the end of the week.

Once the recommendations are made, the Board will once again deliberate on the issue. Officials say the goal is to enlist the services of a firm that can recommend and implement a plan that will be the most beneficial to the sustainability of

DCHS.

Officials say while this is a course of action the hospital may be forced to explore, it’s still paying its bills, is functioning, and is open for business.
