Juneteenth on Classiclectic

Wikimedia Commons

June 19th, or "Juneteenth" marks the day that orders were read in Galveston, Texas in 1865, commemorating the proclamation that all enslaved persons in the state were free. Michigan declared Juneteenth as "Juneteenth National Freedom Day" in 2005.

On June 19, 2020, we will recognize and celebrate Juneteenth on Classiclectic with the music of George Walker, William Grant Still, and spirituals from @The Georgia Spiritual Ensemble. Join us for the music from 9:30-10am EST on Public Radio 90.

Kurt lives in Marquette with his family and can’t imagine living anywhere else. He loves music, games, running, being near water, and a fine cold brew coffee.
