Missing elderly South Republic woman located

SOUTH REPUBLIC, MI--  

Officials are crediting Project Life Tracker with locating a missing Marquette County woman with dementia. 

The Sheriff’s Office says the 81-year-old was last seen Tuesday around 10 p.m. at her residence on Hemlock Street in South Republic.

Personnel were able to locate the woman a short distance from her home with the assistance of a Life Tracker tracking device and Marquette County Search and Rescue.  The woman was treated for hypothermia at the scene and taken to Bell Hospital for exposure.    

Project Life Tracker is a partnership with the Sheriff’s Office, the Alzheimer’s Association, and TRIAD.  For more information contact the Alzheimer’s Association at 228-3910.    

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
