About Public Radio 90

Our mission: WNMU-FM serves the public interest by creating and delivering, through various media platforms, diverse and in-depth content that informs, entertains, and enriches the Upper Great Lakes region and beyond. In partnership with Northern Michigan University, WNMU is a reflection of the local community, engaging businesses and listeners to create a self-sustaining service.

Northern Michigan University's public radio operates from on-campus studios in NMU's Learning Resources Center and broadcasts from a transmitter located in Ely Township, southwest of Ishpeming.

We feature NPR news, classical, jazz, traditional, blues and international music as well as entertainment programs and specials. We carry popular NPR programs such as Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me, Morning Edition, All Things Considered, World Cafe, Mountain Stage and many others. We also focus on Marquette and Upper Peninsula arts & cultural events. Our live stream is on-air, 24/7 at wnmufm.org/live-stream.
