Fire kills one in Marquette Township

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person has died in an early-morning house fire in Marquette Township. 

WLUC-TV reports the blaze broke out around 5:15 Thursday morning at 2262 Moran Street.  The house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived and one person—believed to be an adult—perished in the fire. 

Michigan State Police and Marquette City Police assisted at the scene. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
