Off-road triathlon to be held in Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI--   A national off-road triathlon series is coming to Marquette this year.

XTERRA combines swimming, mountain biking, and trail running, and is considered by many to be the world championship of the sport.

The triathlon is scheduled for September 7 at Marquette’s Tourist Park.  A “Sprint” course will consist of a half-mile swim, 10-mile mountain bike, and 5K trail run, while the “Epic” course will feature a one-mile swim, 30-mile mountain bike, and 10-mile trail run.

XTERRA is working with the Noquemanon Trail Network to coordinate the event.

To volunteer, call 906-235-6861.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
