Man dies in Iron Mountain fire

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   One person is dead, following a house fire in Iron Mountain.  

The Iron Mountain Daily News reports the blaze broke out Wednesday around 3:50 a.m. at 1232 South Milwaukee Avenue.  Officers from the Iron Mountain Police Department attempted to enter the home, but there was too much smoke. 

When firefighters arrived they found the body of a man inside the residence.  His name has not yet been released, pending notification of next-of-kin.

The State Fire Marshal has been called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. 

The Kingsford Public Safety Department and Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
