Final Four using U.P.-made floor

ATLANTA, GA (AP)--   The Upper Peninsula-made portable maple court for men's college basketball's Final Four is making the trip this week to Atlanta.

Connor Sport Court International says work on the floor began last year.

A truck hauling the floor is making several stops in Tennessee and throughout Georgia.  The floor is set to arrive Friday at the Georgia Dome for assembly ahead of the Final Four.

The floor is made at Connor Sport Court's plant in Amasa and finished at another location.

The plant also made the court for the women's Final Four in New Orleans.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
