Independence Day fire damages Marquette house

MARQUETTE, MI--   Two people had to be rescued from the roof of a Marquette house after an unattended grill sparked a fire Thursday.

Firefighters were called around 3:40 a.m. to 411 West Baraga and found two college-aged individuals—a man and a woman—on top of the second story roof.  Three people from the first floor were able to evacuate.

Officials say fire heavily damaged the second floor and interior attic space.

No injuries were reported.  Firefighters say all occupants were warned of the fire by operating smoke alarms.
